Another early morning wake up (why do i keep booking early morning trains/planes.. pls tell me!) and off to the train station we go, lugging bags for the 10 minute walk. At least by now we know exactly where we are going, and can do it probably with our eyes shut. FMY (Fabulous Miss Yena) & I both comment that we almost get run over by the most amount of cars in the street that we have seen all week in Bayeux near the hotel… wierd.
As we walk into the Station, right smack in front of us are the Texas couple Rick & Laverne heading back to Paris on the same train. Small world. We only had a short wait and with tickets in hand already to go, all we needed to do was validate. As time approached and we headed from the small waiting room to the platform, Laverne mentioned that they had assigned seats, where as we did not. I paniced and ran inside with very little time to go. I had to do the rudest thing ever and push my way in to quickly ask if we needed seat assignments, was told no, and ran outside as the train pulled into the station.
Thursday 11th August 2011 – Bayeux to Paris
SNCF – Intercities
Bayeux to Paris St Lazare
1st Class
FMY helped Rick and Laverne out getting their large suitcases onto the train while I took our bags and jumped in the first door possible rather than trying to walk the platform and find the first class carriages, we would do it inside the train instead, easier that way. We headed our way to the front of the train, found an empty spot in the 1st carriage we hit, I then went into the very first carriage and found it almost entirely empty so we moved into that one where we could have more space.
At this point, pretty much the train trip went as follows. Read my tablet, eat my breakfast of Baguette, Water & Banana and write a postcard. Pretty much a standard train journey really. Didn’t really look out the window as we had already covered the same sights on the way down, was tired and just wanted to relax. It was good. Took a few photos here and there, pretty soon we were approaching St Lazare as we came into the Paris Suburbs.
Upon arrival into St Lazare we headed for the Taxi queue where FMY dropped her bag in the taxi with me, and I headed off to the hotel with all the bags while she headed off to run some errands and we would meet up after. Pretty soon I was back at the Champs Elysees and into the hotel I strolled, ;like a pack horse.
